Handicap International is an international non-governmental organisation with the mandate to prevent and limit the impact of disabilities, by offering assistance to people with disabilities and those at risk of disability and supporting them in their efforts towards autonomy and social integration.
Lucy Roberts, Cambodia - Maldives
Hello! I want to share some of my experiences with you during my last weeks with HIB… In fact after working with HIB since October 2005, first in the Maldives and now in Cambodia, I will finish work on Friday 29th May. I have had a fantastic experience working in both these countries and greatly appreciate having such interesting and varied work opportunities. In the Maldives I was the Country Director, and in Cambodia I am a Disability Advisor both for the Cambodia programme and also regionally. As advisor, my focus is on the rights of people with disabilities, government policy and the support of disabled people’s organisations to become familiar with their rights, and encourage governments to respect and protect their rights.
